I extend my congratulations, on behalf of the people and government of the United States, to all Angolan people as you celebrate the 44th anniversary of our independence.
This year, the United States and Angola have had 26 years of high-level diplomatic engagement, including my meeting with Secretary of State Augusto and Deputy Secretary of State Londa, during which we renewed our strategic dialogue. Shape The United States welcomes Angola's efforts to fight corruption and improve its human rights record, as reaffirming our other human rights dialogues and ratification of numerous Angolan human rights treaties.
We appreciate Angola's efforts to diversify its economy, which has created opportunities for much of the US private sector involvement. We fully support Angola's growing role as a leader in promoting regional stability and look forward to deepening political and trade cooperation in the years to come.
