The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sukkur started functioning as an empowered body in 1979 under the provisions of the Ordinance.

This board has the power to organize, develop, and organize matriculation and intermediate examinations within the authority. Currently, the Sukkur Board's subordinate areas are Sukkur District, Ghotki District, Khairpur District, Nowshera Feroze District, and Tala Daulatpur of Nawabshah District.

Introduction

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur was established on 8.10.1979 under the provisions of the above Ordinance. They were transferred to rented bungalows. Muslim Housing Society in Military Road Sukkur. The Board took over its existing premises / officers in 1985.
 
(i) At the time of its inception, the Board's territorial jurisdiction consisted of the following districts:

  •  Jacobabad
  •  Khairpur
  •  Larkana
  •  Nawabshah which includes the present areas of Nowshero Feroz District
  •  Sukkur including current areas of Ghotki district
  •  Shikarpur

(ii) Since 1985, the Government of Sindh has shifted the areas of Nawabshah District from Tala Daulatpur to BISE, Hyderabad.

 
(iii) (a) After the establishment of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Larkana, the territorial jurisdiction is limited to the following areas.


  •  District Sukkur
  •  Ghotki District
  •  3 District Khairpur
  •  Nowshera District Feroz
  •  Tala Daulatpur of Nawabshah District
 
(B) Later all the institutions of Daulatpur taluka of Nawabshah district were also transferred to Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad in the year 2002. The board is providing examinations and certification facilities to students in the region.
 The first annual examinations for the ninth and twelfth grades were conducted in 1980 by nine inexperienced staff with limited resources and modest accommodation. It was a big task but only by the grace of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, both the big exams were held very easily. Difficulties in walking and weaning early teeth overcame the board, within a year, he regained his normal height and performance during the SSC / HSC exam 1981.
