Allama Iqbal's Journey to the Hereafter

Allama Iqbal was ill two and a half years before his death.

Due to the seriousness of his illness, Allama Iqbal was more concerned about his young children Javed and Munira and he decided to compile a will after assessing the situation.

Allama Iqbal issued his will on October 13, 1935.

Allama Iqbal appointed Khawaja Abdul Ghani, Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed, Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain and Munshi Tahir-ud-Din as the guardians of the property and caste of their children till they reach adulthood.

In the last few days, Allama Iqbal wanted Javed Iqbal to spend as much time with him as possible.

Before his death, Iqbal was suffering from back pain.

    > Doctors recommend anaesthesia to reduce the severity of back pain.

In response to the advice, Allama Iqbal said that the hours of death are near and I do not want to die in a state of unconsciousness.

    > A day before his death, Allama Iqbal was met by a foreign friend of his, Baron van Flat.

Employees Ali Bakhsh, Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain, Munshi Tahir-ud-Din, Khawaja Hassan Akhtar and Dr Abdul Qayyum were present before his death.

    > Allama Iqbal called for death at 5:14 in the morning.

    > Allama Iqbal's journey to the hereafter started from Javed Manzil Lahore. Before the last breath, the word "Allah" came out of Allama Iqbal's lips.

    > Allama Iqbal's first funeral prayer was offered in the grounds of Islamia College.

    The second funeral prayer of Allama Iqbal was offered at 8 pm.

    > Allama Iqbal's body was unloaded in Lahad at 10 pm.

Allama Iqbal was buried on the left side of the main entrance of the royal mosque. The word "Muhammad (peace be upon him)" is inscribed on the roof of Allama Iqbal's shrine.
