The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Islamabad, established under the FBSE Act 1975, is an independent body of the Ministry of Education (now under the Ministry of Education and Training Division).  

In general, it is empowered with the administrative and financial authority to organize, regulate, develop and control intermediate and secondary education, and to conduct examinations in related institutions.
